Hi,

I have a Chocolate Banana Cake recipe from the book Joy of Baking witten by Mdm Yen. The cake looks like the one sold in Secret Recipes. I hv made the cake a few times and it's heavenly. Everyone who ate the cake commented it tasted better than the ones sold outside. The completed cake is very tall , about 5 inches and the choc frosting on the outside is very smooth and shiny. I'm in the office now, will type out the recipe and post it when I'm home tonite.

I hope it's the one that u r looking.

hi,
I m very chiong hei. My son is here, so he taught me how to post the picture. Image not clear b'cos use cellphone . The picture of the chocolate banana cake is the failed attempt with the filling. There shud be alot more filling and lot more bananas. The color of the filling shud be much lighter and the cake shud be taller.
One more thing, when you add the gelatine , the filling should thicken up very quickly.

For the egg whites in the cake recipe, do you whip them until stiff peaks form?

yes but it shud be smooth and shiny. Do not overbeat the egg whites or you will hv difficulty folding in egg yolks mixture.

I'm impressed with the cake you have..! especially the icing part..very smooth leh..! Razz

alot of work put into sandwiching the layers of cream and bananas and later icing the cake.

err..why is the top picture different from the bottom picture ?

thank you for sharing your tried and tested recipe!

Gina. sorry....the bottom picture is a Sakura Cheesecake from the same book.
I wanted to post the recipe with the picture, then I realised it's similar to the Japanese Cheesecake posted by Small Cookie. I altered the recipe abit and bake it in my sunflower bundt pan. I changed the milk to evoprated milk, add 1 Tabsp instant coffee and 3 Tabsp Bailey to the recipe and I use HK pau floor.

Hi,

I am new to the forum and find this recipe very interesting. May I know where I can buy hanan's Whip - the non dairy cream, in Singapore? Is it possible to substitute with the dairy version?

I would also like to know where to get this "Hanan's Whip Deelite Base". Normally I used "Whip Topping " from Phoon Huat.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I live in KL so I won't know where you get get it in SG. You can use other brand as long as it stated that u must add 1 part liquid to 2 part cream. Sometimes i used Rich non- diary Topping cream.
