This dish is inspired by Buay Tan. However, I didn't follow her recipe. Because I didn't jot down notes during the cooking session at her home on 4th Aug.

The taste is somewhat similar as the basic vegetables are there. Only that I didn't add spice to it as Melody has a bad sore throat.

Recipe yields 300g
Ingredients
200g white cabbage leaves(chopped finely)
2 red tomatoes(chopped)
1 tbsp chopped torch ginger
3 tbsp Mayo
2 tbsp Evaporated milk
2 tbsp Fresh milk(I used Skimmed milk)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
1 tsp dried Rosemary leaves

Method
1. Mixed sauce together till its evenly mixed.
2. Toss with vegetables.
3. serve cold.

Hi Gina!

Your coleslaw looks good. Thinking of making this wkend. But what is torch ginger? What taste does it give to the coleslaw? Can it be left out in this recipe? Will it alter the taste very much? Children normally don't like ginger taste, u see.

Thanks in advance

torch ginger is not a true ginger. Its something that is added to rojak Wink for this particular coleslaw recipe, torch ginger is a MUST HAVE. It really brings out the flavour.

We all(Hugbear, Stefanie, Jude and myself) tried the one without the Torch Ginger and the one with it. We all like the latter. Thus, the recipe.

This is how the Torch Ginger looks like:

oink,if you will...please please try the version with the minced up torch ginger flower.
It really makes a world of difference.

If you're still apprehensive about your kids not liking it,serve the torch ginger flower on the side, encourage them to sprinkle it on.
