Thank you,

I learned a lot from my friend Oxana (she is an expert in sugar paste) but I also have a large collection of mini cutters and a lot of Wilton books.
Some of which have step by step instructions.

MamaC,

you are a super talented lady.

Do you make your own sugar paste (sorry don't know much about cake decoration) and do you individually hand paint the flowers

Thank you,

sinner... I am not a super talent... but certainly am curious.
Yes I do make my own sugar paste... as you see it in the first picture.
Then I add color to a small amount of paste; depend of how many flowers I need to make. But, I can paint them also.
And I play with it as the children do with play dough.
As a matter of fact the paste has the same texture.
And then I let them dry before decorating.

cwl... hehehe ... if you had your hands on play dough... you would know what to do with the sugar paste too. It is not really a science. Just imagination.

Vi

time to spill the beans here. Please tell me what you need to make the white sugar paste...

my mom would love to make this. In fact, my aunt too. All the women in our family are good with their hands. My aunt learn clay modelling once..she made so many hand crafted figurines and sold them for charity.

Another aunt of mine is good with knitting..

you know, my mom bought the entire set of piping tips but never found the time to use them..! coffee island

Gina,

I will spill everything... but I need a favor from you.

My good friend Oxana, got the membership here, but somehow it was canceled.
We wanted together to show a lot of sugar work. But I can't with out her.
She signed again and is waiting on the list to get in.

And I need to know ... if I will be ok to post the step by step. I don't want to over do it and get in trouble.

Mamac... but beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. If I have only a quarter of your talent, I will be jumping up and down in delight. Razz

I aspire to be like you. They are absolutely gorgeous. Problem is we have to use sugar paste right? Which comes my problem ... my family and I have low sugar tolerance. Sigh ... any alternatives?

Angie, I swear I am not a profesional and neither is Oxana... we happend to have a gift.

Linda... these decorations may be made of sugar ... but actualy no one is eating them. They are intended to decor cakes. If you really want to make profesional looking cakes and not fear if someone may taste them... they are edibles but not great... just good looking.

A lot of people buy the ones made by Wilton and are done the same. So why buy when I can make them?

Oh I see ... They are for display only ... Pity ... won't work for me then. My family and friends like decorations that they can eat too. Hmm ... guess I have to practice on my cake decoration using whipped cream or chocolate ganache. My family only loves whipped cream and chocolate as their cake decorations.

Vi

Sorry, I was not able to send you a pm, so decided to post it here.

About the white chocolate .... so I melt 1/2 cup white chocolate, 1/2 cup milk powder with milk in the same way I would make chocolate ganache, right? When you say soft paste, is it the same thickness as chocolate ganache?

Note to the nation  : We are off topic. We are talking here about the posibility of making white chocolate steamed cake.

Yes Linda,
The consistancy of the ganache. The powder milk will give a more powerful white chocolate taste.
