yummy

Just out of the oven!

Packed and ready to go!

Baking in progress, in my new Tecno gas oven.

Ingredients Yam paste
200g Thai yam, steamed and mashed
100g fine sugar
50g butter(salted)

Ingredients pastry dough
350g plain flour
130ml water
80ml corn oil
100g fine sugar

3 tbsp each of Roasted Black and White sesame seeds
1 egg lightly beaten(for brushing the dough)

Method
1. Add all the ingredients to the warmed yam paste, stir till butter has melted and mixed evenly. set aside.
2. In a separate bowl, add all the dough ingredients together. Stir using a spatula till its mixed into a smooth dough.
3. Leave it aside for 1 hour.
4. Divide the dough into 40 balls. Flatten each ball and add 1/2 tsp of yam paste in the centre. Wrap and seal the edges.
5. Brush the top with beaten egg, and sprinkle black and white sesame seeds on top.
6. Baked in preheated oven 150C for 30 mins.
7. Cool completely before storing.

About baking
If you are using other types of oven, use 170C and baked for only 20 mins.

If you are using the Tecnogas TEC 3400 oven, then baked at 150C for 30 mins. Set the oven to be top heating only.
You may need to preheat the Tecnogas oven at 200C for 10 mins..then lower to 150 C before putting the cookies in to bake.

Though I had problem wrapping the yam nicely in the pastry and didnt spinkle the sesame seeds...the yam pastries (piah texture) turned out well and tastes great! Thanks Gina for the recipe Smile
